The school counseling program at Ahliah School has been designed according to the International School Counseling Model.
The counseling and guidance program is a comprehensive school counseling program which is driven by student data, based on standards in academic, career, personal/social development, and global perspective domain, and promotes and enhances the learning process for all students. Ahliah School guidance and counseling program aims to work in a collaborative fashion where all school personnel, parents, and students work together to create an environment that promotes students’ achievement and student overall well-being; an environment that fulfills the school’s mission to develop young minds to their best abilities, and nurture every student as an individual entity to become an efficient member of society.
Statement of Philosophy
Ahliah School believes:
All students are able to achieve when they are willing
All students have dignity and worth
All students should have the opportunity to achieve academic success, social and individual well-being, regardless of race, gender, religious views, sexual orientation, political views, socioeconomic status, or ethnicity.
All students have the right to participate in the school counseling program, and it is the responsibility of the counseling program to reach all students.
The school counseling program focus is on primary prevention, intervention and student development needs under the personal/social domain, academic domain, career domain, and global citizenship domain set by the International School Counseling Standards.
All students’ ethnic, cultural, racial, social, special needs and interests are considered in planning and implementing the school counseling program.
Planning and managing of the school counseling program is done by the school counselor with the agreement of the administration, advisory council, and school board.
The curriculum component is implemented by assigned teachers and overseen by the school counselor. Other counseling services are implemented by the school counselor.
The school counselor is responsible for the relevant data collection and analysis. The school counselor does a monthly time-task analysis and a monthly report, a School Counselor Performance Appraisal at the end of each trimester, and a Program Audit at the end of every school year.
The Ahliah School counseling program abides by the ethical standards set by the American School Counseling Association to the furthest extent possible in the context of Lebanon where the school is located.
The Ahliah School counseling program mission statement is to reach every student, both directly and indirectly, regardless of the student’s ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, religious views, political views, or special needs. To provide the support needed to foster academic, personal, and social growth for every student and release each individual at the end of the school journey ready and qualified to have an active and efficient role in society.
