Ahliah Genetics Conference

On May 31st, Ahliah School held its first Genetics Conference prepared by G11 scientific students under the guidance of their Biology Teacher. Students had to research rare Genetic diseases and prepare a full report and presentation in front of a panel of Professional academics and doctors; Dr. Nadim Cortas, Emeritus Dean and Emeritus Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut (AUB); Dr. Saouma BouJaoude, Director of Center for teaching and learning and Professor of Science Education at the American University of Beirut (AUB); and Dr. Marwan El Sabban, Professor at the Department of Human Morphology and Director of the Biological Imaging facility in the Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut (AUB). Students worked in teams of three and the judges needed to choose a winning team based on a given set of criteria. Everyone was impressed by the professionalism and depth of the students’ researches and presentations.  They worked hard on research skills, presentation skills, public speaking, and most importantly standing in front of a panel of professional judges and answering challenging university level questions.
